The Digital Economy and Society Ministry has warned the public to beware of scammers sending fake text messages about a 55,000 baht loan campaign from the Government Savings Bank (GSB).
The Anti-Fake News Center Thailand posted a warning on Facebook following an investigation into reports that people received a text message from the GSB informing them of a loan with a message in Thai that read “Campaign of the Banque Populaire (KP) 55,000 Baht “with a website link. The GSB said the text was never sent by the bank, confirming that it was in fact a fraudulent message sent by crooks to lure victims.
The Center urged members of the public not to get caught up in the scam or send or share the bogus message with others in order to avoid spreading misinformation and harming others. People are advised to visit the GSB website at www.gsb.or.th, the GSBSociety Facebook page, or call the GSB hotline on 1115 for more information.(NNT)
