Thomaston Savings Bank awards two $10,000 scholarships

TORRINGTON – Torrington Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Jordan Haggard of Falls Village and Lauren Searle of Burlington are the recipients of the 2022 TSB Scholarships. Each year, the Bank offers two graduates a scholarship of $10,000 over 4 years ($2,500 per year).
Jordan will attend Tufts University in Boston, Mass., where she will major in English and Art History. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School with a 4.2 GPA. Jordan was a member of the national FFA organization, national honor society, and student council, serving as class vice president for all four years. She also competed in lacrosse and volleyball. In 2021, she received the Bernard Berenson Art History Prize and was a member of the 1st place team that won the Humanities Prize in the “Design Your Own School” collaborative project sponsored by the 21st Century Fund. She has volunteered at the Norman Rockwell Museum and the DM Hunt Library. She also served as a volunteer content creator for Colonial Williamsburg, which helped launch a new brand, Craft & Forge.
Lauren will attend Michigan State University where she will major in hospitality. A graduate of Lewis S. Mills High School with a GPA of 4.29, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Foreign Language Honor Society. She has also served on the United Way Youth Council and volunteered for Caring Day. At Mills, Lauren was a member of the women’s football, basketball and track teams. She has participated in Model UN, Book Club, Humanitarian Club, and Mills Club, among others.
