The county replaces a culvert in the township of Berkshire.
GALENA – A county project to replace a culvert on the South Galena Road between US Highway 3 and the Golf Course Road in the Township of Berkshire has been completed. It had been closed from May 10 for a maximum of 19 days.
The project was part of the spring cleaning efforts underway in the township.
“The township continues to be proactive in maintaining the road networks,” said the spring newsletter recently published by Berkshire. “The Trustees recently approved over $ 100,000 for pavement surfacing. It will start this spring. “
The township bulletin reminded residents to cut down trees from their streets in accordance with the township zoning resolution, to “please keep your property in order by picking up trash and debris” and to keep decorations clean at the cemetery during the period. mowing.
“The township administrator (Kevin Vaughn) is willing to attend HOA meetings to help answer questions about the community,” the newsletter said. “To request their attendance, please contact our office at 740-965-2992.”
Other reminders were that residents may need a zoning certificate for a new deck, patio, or pool. Volunteers were needed to clean and maintain the flower garden.
At a meeting on March 22, the township administrators approved the purchase of a bat mower and the exchange of their old bat mower to Evolution Ag. They also agreed to purchase a unit of speed radar, minutes read.
The administrators then discussed what they would like to see in the township park. Administrator Joshua Varble said he preferred a playground or picnic shelter to paving the walking trail, and administrator Mike Dattilo agreed.
On April 12, Dattilo told administrators the roads were sealed and would be touched up.
During the April 26 directors meeting, Vaughn received “approval to proceed with the townships of Delaware and Berlin to discuss the extension of the waste contract with Rumpke expiring in the near future.”
The minutes of the meeting indicate that Vaughn also “gave the directors drawings of a new fence with letters to review for the freeway exit.” This is just a preliminary drawing and no estimate has been obtained. The directors discussed this and decided to proceed with obtaining certain estimates. “
At their May 10 meeting, the trustees approved spending of “$ 100,153.30 for various road projects in Berkshire Township as part of the Delaware County Road Improvement Program.”
They also approved the expenditure of $ 13,865.30 for grader patch repairs at Joe Walker Road by the Delaware County Engineer’s Office.
The township office will be closed Monday for Memorial Day.
