MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – During the week of the 150th anniversary of Monson Savings Bank, a reception at the Monson branch and raffles at all banks were held for the community, but more festivities are to come. by the end of 2022.
Monson Savings Bank Anniversary Week Celebration
A reception was hosted by Monson Savings Bank President and CEO Daniel Moriarty on March 28 along with team members.
According to a Monson Savings Bank press release, the reception brought together dignitaries including local professionals, government officials and community members to show their support for the bank. State Senator Anne Gobi and Representative Brian Ashe presented Monson Savings Bank with citations, congratulated the Bank on its 150th anniversary and pledged to serve residents, businesses and communities.
Moriarty gave a brief overview of the history of Monson Savings Bank and explained the purpose of the Bank, “to enable all people to invest their income as they choose, in a way that will give them security and profit. One of the benefits of a community bank is educational, to enable parents and guardians to cultivate savings habits and those they care for. Moriarty proudly said, “The Bank has stayed true to its roots.”
“We are extremely grateful to the local communities for their support over the years. Likewise, we are excited to keep the community bank alive and healthy in Western Massachusetts and to give back to the communities we serve at every opportunity.

For a company to reach 150 years is impressive, but it is almost unheard of for a bank to remain mutually independent and not have merged for 150 years,” said Dan Moriarty, President and CEO of Monson. To commemorate the event of the grand reopening of the Monson Savings Bank in 1966, the Bank has held its Grand Prize Draws Yesterday and Today. Prizes included a television, an Alexa Echo Dot and Buxton wallets.
The prize winners are:
- Daniel Therrien – winner of a Samsung 43″ UHD 4K LED Smart TV
- Kathleen Dominguez – winner of an Alexa Echo Dot
- Mikayla Dupaul – Brady and Randall Fyfe – winners of a Buxton Men’s Wallet


In addition to yesterday’s and today’s grand prize draws, all bank branches brought candy, balloons and chances to win gift cards or giveaways from March 28 through April 2.
Monson Savings Bank festivities continue
Monson Savings Bank will continue the festivities throughout the year, through December, offering customers the chance to win a monthly cash prize of $150.
From April to August, the Monson Savings Bank will dedicate its support to local community members of all ages by purchasing over $20,000 worth of children’s bicycles and helmets from the Family Bicycle Shop in East Longmeadow.
On June 1, Monson Savings Bank will also unveil a historic plaque at the original bank building at Maine and State streets, as well as the Monson Savings Bank branch. A time capsule should be presented to team members to fill with memories, artifacts, and reminders of the year. In 2047, on the Bank’s 175th anniversary, it will be unearthed from the Monson Branch property.
