Ministry to announce new SOP after stakeholder consultation

Datu Dr Penguang Manggil
MIRI (August 4): The Ministry of Local Government and Housing consults with the National Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and relevant stakeholders before announcing its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (PNR) in Sarawak.
His Deputy Minister Datu, Dr Penguang Manggil, said the meetings were being held to ensure the practicality and effectiveness of the ministry’s strategies.
“This will be revealed shortly after the meetings and consultation with SDMC and relevant stakeholders,” he said when contacted about the ministry’s new SOP.
Penguang called on all Sarawakans to remain vigilant against the spread of the more infectious Delta variant of Covid-19.
“We should not be too complacent and let our guard down by strictly adhering to the highest hygiene standards and SOPs set by SDMC, as that would invite unnecessary trouble,” he said.
Regarding Sarawakis who have yet to receive help under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance Program (BKSS), Penguang said they can appeal to local authorities.
To contain the economic and social fallout from the lockdown imposed by the federal government since March of last year, the state government implemented six BKSS programs, including cash assistance to economic sectors and those affected. .
