Midea awarded by UNIDO for its efforts to protect the environment

For the past 10 years, Midea has worked with UNIDO on a project to replace HCFC-22, an environmentally harmful refrigerant, with propane (R-290), a naturally occurring substance, which contributes to the both directly and indirectly to the fight of the international community against climate change by introducing the optimized refrigerant system.
Midea’s plan to develop, produce and distribute products powered by such a system has eliminated 13.2 tonnes of ozone-depleting potential and reduced 967,490 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions per year, according to UNIDO data.

Eighty-three of its laboratories are now dedicated to research around RAC with low GWP refrigerants.
