Indiana Governor Holcomb in Israel to meet Prime Minister Netanyahu | New
LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is scheduled to hold a meeting Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Holcomb’s office said he will be in Israel on Tuesday and Wednesday to meet with Netanyahu and other senior officials.
“I support Israel and look forward to meeting Prime Minister Netanyahu to continue forging an even stronger Israel-Indiana bond,” Governor Holcomb said. “We have a growing number of Hoosiers and Hoosier companies that share strong cultural and economic ties with this country, so when I was invited I did not hesitate to take this trip to meet in Israel during such a hour of need.
In 2018, Governor Holcomb led a delegation of Hoosier public officials and business leaders to Israel on an economic development trip that helped deepen economic ties between Indiana and the country. The governor met Prime Minister Netanyahu on the trip.
Governor Holcomb is due to return to Indiana on Thursday. The trip is paid for by Imagine Indiana Inc., a 501 (c) (4). No taxpayer funds will be used to pay for the governor’s travel.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken who is also in Israel has vowed to “rally international support” to help Gaza after a devastating war there, while keeping any aid out of the hands of its militant Hamas leaders.
Blinken is on a week-long regional tour to consolidate last week’s ceasefire.
