Former TRS Minister Etela Rajender resigns MP and expected to join BJP
The main TRS leader and former Telangana health minister, Etela Rajedner, has resigned as an MP.
A few days ago, he also gave up party membership.
Rajender, who represents the Huzurabad constituency, was one of the top leaders of the ruling TRS.
“I wanted to submit the resignation letter directly to the President. But I was unable to meet with him.
So under these circumstances, I had to submit my resignation to the secretary of the Assembly, ”Rajender said.
Before submitting his resignation letter, Rajender told reporters that although many of his supporters advised him against resigning, he was doing so for the sake of the self-esteem of the people in his constituency and in Telangana.
According to sources close to Rajender, he is due to join the BJP on June 14 in the presence of party chairman JP Nadda in the national capital.
“He had already met the top leadership of the BJP. The high command invited him to the party,” they told PTI.
Besides Rajender, a few leaders of the TRS are also expected to join the saffron party.
Rajender was kicked out of cabinet last month over complaints that businesses owned by family members had taken over allotted land in the state.
